1 ............ Section 1. This act shall be known and may be

2 ...cited as the Balanced Treatment for Creation-Science and

3 ...Evolution-Science Act.

4 .......... Section 2. The Legislature finds that:

5 ............ (1) The subject of the origin of the universe,

6 ...earth, life, and man is treated within many public school

7 ...courses, such as biology, life sciences, anthropology

8 ...sociology, and often also in physics, chemistry, world

9 ...history, philosophy, and social sciences;

10 ........... (2) Only evolution-science is presented to

11 ...students in virtually all of those courses that discuss

12 ...the subject of origins. Public schools generally censor

13 ...creation-science and evidence contrary to evolution;

14 .......... (3) Evolution-science is not an unquestionable

15 ...fact of science, because evolution cannot be

16 ...experimentally observed, fully verified, or logically

17 ...falsified, and because evolution-science is not accepted

18 ...by some scientists;

19 ............ (4) Evolution-science is contrary to the

20 ...religious convictions or moral values or philosophical

21 ...beliefs of many students and parents, including

22 ...individuals of many different religious faiths and with

23 ...diverse moral values and philosophical beliefs;

24 ............ (5) Public school presentation of only

25 ...evolution-science without any alternative model of

26 ...origins abridges the United States Constitution's

27 ...protections of freedom of religious exercise and of
