Liberty reserve employee pleads guilty, Liberty Reserve chief jailed, Bank of the Underworld, Liberty Reserve head sentenced to 20 yrs
Some months ago I encountered highhyip.com through referrer spam on my web site. Web hosts cooperated in removing the site. Though it's been gone for months a Google search still shows several hundred thousand references. The domain created an extensive link network.
Like highhyip.com, Liberty Reserve Investments (.org, .com, .net, .ws, .biz) are classic Ponzi schemes. Before you invest be sure you check out high yield investment programs on Google. Be sure you know what a Ponzi scheme is. Ask youself why so many websites have the same name? Ask yourself why the web sites don't provide biographies of officers. Google street addresses of the companies. Google the combination of "liberty reserve" and "scam." If you're still not sure whether these are scams check with your Better Business Bureau or other respectable consumer advice organization in your region..
Sadly the Securities and Exchange Commission has bigger fish to fry and won't protect you from low level scams. Liberty Reserve however was involved in major fraud and was shut down in 2013.
