How we know things
I'm not a fan of blasphemy, but radio religion sorely tempts me.

I don't listen to much radio religion, but I do browse radio stations on long trips, especially when I'm out of NPR range. In rural areas religious stations are sometimes most entertaining. Returning to Lincoln from Green Bay on Sunday was such an occasion. I learned that speaking in tongues is the work of Satan. To perform this work he employs ventriloquist demons. How does one know this? Apparently it's by knowing doctrine. In the absence of doctrine one is left with only emotions which Satan readily manipulates.

I share the preacher's skepticism of speaking in tongues. My position, however, arises from intellectual processes of which he is apparently unaware. I remain curious about the source of his educational deficiency.
