The Discovery Institute promotes "growing dissent (with evolution) in the scientific community". The Discovery Institute is a political organization and bases this claim not on scientific research but on a petition. This petition is a comprehensive list of scientists and related (often marginally) professionals who are creationists or who distrust science. It represents not scientific consensus, but rather a database of potential endorsers of Discovery Institute promotions.
A brief survey of the scientific literature shows the theory of evolution to be increasingly productive. So-called "alternatives" are totally absent from the scientific literature. While evolution remains controversial among the general public it has been accepted by the scientific community since 1873. It's dishonest to claim otherwise.
